We re-opened Friday morning, not quite ready for business since they were still working on the carpet Thursday night, but, hey... Amazingly minor losses so far--the computer and scan pad directly underneath the leaking pipe, some previously damaged materials waiting in the Head of Circulation's office for discard or salvage, some power strips, and the drywall in Circ. I'm sure that other things will turn up as we go, but we were darned lucky. Interestingly (but not surprising to the staff), when they took out the damaged drywall there was no insulation underneath. Just another example of the incredibly shoddy job of construction that they did--but I'm not going to go into all that, because nobody wants to hear me rant for the next six months. Still, things could have been so much worse.

Oh, I'm so glad to hear this!! How old is your library? The one I work in was built in the early 70's and is a classic example of period architecture (ugh!) and shoddy construction. Anyway, I'm very, very happy for you!
