Which American accent do you have?

Neutral

You're not Northern, Southern, or Western, you`re just plain -American-. Your national identity is more important than your local identity, because you don`t really have a local identity. You might be from the region in that map, which is defined by this kind of accent, but you could easily not be. Or maybe you just moved around a lot growing up.

Boring, neutral me. It fits ...and it hits the nail right on the head, since I've lived in Ohio my entire life.

One of my co-workers just gave me an incredibly apt birthday present--a metal figure of a gleeful woman with a quote from Louisa May Alcott--"She is too fond of books, and it has addled her brain." Now I just need to find someplace here at work to hang it that won't be covered up by all the books that are constantly piled all over my workspace.

You are The Star

Hope, expectation, Bright promises.

The Star is one of the great cards of faith, dreams realised

The Star is a card that looks to the future. It does not predict any immediate or powerful change, but it does predict hope and healing. This card suggests clarity of vision, spiritual insight. And, most importantly, that unexpected help will be coming, with water to quench your thirst, with a guiding light to the future. They might say you're a dreamer, but you're not the only one.

Hmm....not sure how accurate this is, but it's certainly a pretty card.

Calloo, callay! I've paid off my mortgage! Now I'll be able to finally see about getting a computer and internet access at home (and less fun things like waterproofing the basement :( and saving more for retirement).
Dinner hour's over--back to work. *re-lurking*

Off to Toronto tomorrow to see LOTR the musical before it leaves. My friend's picking me up at 5:45 a.m. (aaaargh!!! that's a time to go *to* bed, not get out of it!) to catch the bus (we're being lazy and taking a AAA bus trip instead of driving, since we both have to be back at work on Monday). Should be fun.

Your roomates are Frodo and Bilbo! The Good News:
You've got a really tidy, fashionable house.
The pantry is always stocked full of yummy food
and the bookshelves are crammed - you'll never
use the library again! And, a round little
gardener comes around every morning to prune!
Aww. The Bad News: The gardener listens in on
your conversations and Dwarves have a habit of
unexpectedly turning up. So do annoying
relatives. The Best News: Everyone parties at
your house and somehow the carpets are still
clean!

Well, good and bad news. Good news is that we're finally (after having been supposed to move in March, then May, then June, then August--it's a long story) moving to temporary quarters. And believe me, working in a construction for the past 3 months has NOT been fun. Bad news is that the move starts next Friday. Can you say frantic packing of my department (and everywhere else)? Of course, we have it easier "behind-the-secnes" than the public departments since they'll be open to the public through Thursday. At least we can panic in peace and quiet. Worse news is that due to getting the computer cables and T-1 lines transferred, as of the middle of the following week I'm looking at at least 1 1/2 weeks with no internet connection. No cataloging, no access to the library database, no fanfiction!!! I think I'm going into withdrawal already. The new building should be worth it (I hope), but it's a long way off. Oh well, I wouldn't have had much time for reading even if I'd had access, but not even being able to see what I'm missing and print out stuff for later is going to hurt. OW!

well, for me it is. I have an icon (yay!). As I slowly steal a few minutes here and there from work to figure out how to make things work. One of these days I really need to get a computer at home instead of depending on work for my only computer access. Maybe when I win the lottery and don't have to do things like paying for a new furnace... Yet another reason why I won't be as active as I'd like to be, there's just no time.

I'm not likely to make many entries in this, although who knows? Basically I got it for reading fanfic, since so many people whose fic I read are friendslocking more and more stuff. So, anyhow. I read just about any genre of LOTR fic, gen or slash, FPS or RPS. My favorite slash pairings are Frodo/Sam and Sean/Elijah, but I'll read just about any pairing as long as Frodo and/or Elijah are part of it. I also make small excursions into Faculty fic, mostly Casey/Zeke. I've not been very vocal with FB, although maybe that'll change now that I'm no longer anonymous.
